We found out last week that we were accepted to compete! I am already losing sleep over it! We will also be participating in clinics with Julie Goodnight on Thursday and a Craig Cameron clinic on Saturday. I ended up in Craig's clinic because they needed another rider. I cannot be more thrilled on all fronts.
Back to more practicing and practicing. We only have two weeks (yes that is a 2) left and then that is it. I am determined to at least do a roll-back that looks like we know what we are doing and to keep practicing bareback loping. I'll only need the latter if we get into the finals (I hope).
Yeesh...so much to do, so little time. The jumping is coming along pretty well. I bought some straw bales yesterday so we can try and jump over some natural obstacles.
I made on-line friends with a gal that came in fifth at last years ECR in Columbus. She and her horse are a truly amazing team. They also got to compete in the National Finals in Missouri. You can see her videos by going to YouTube and searching for Extreme Cowboy Race. She has vids on both rounds. I have to admit that I have watched them multiple times, trying to get an idea of how hard the course may be. We won't find out about the course this year until we check in on Friday. Oh, and you don't get to practice the actual course either.
